The C.A.T.S. Junior Chorus & The Gill Harvey Dancers

This years pantomime has once again been written by Alan Price, who will also be directing it. Although Alan wrote a version of this pantomime which we put on a few years ago, he has re-written and adapted it to suit this cast.

The production will have the usual C.A.T.S. format of plenty of fun and laughter; with lots of audience participation combined with colourful costumes and scenery. Alan also hopes to have one of the fastest ‘Transformation Scene' changes ever to be done in one of his pantomimes.

We have a strong cast, with many of the juniors taking speaking roles. The junior chorus has been enhanced by new members and, as usual, the Gill Harvey Dancers will be with us. The music will once again be provided by Stephanie Burgess and her band.

This year, we are lucky to have so many of our members wishing to take part in the pantomime and, although this gave Alan plenty of headaches when casting, he did however manage in the end. Caroline Sturdy and Caroline Stokes will be taking on the principal boy and girl characters of Robin Hood and Maid Marion, respectively. Warren Leese will be delivering his usual brand of comedy as The Jester, and will once again be bouncing off the wit and humour of Jed Stoddard in the role of Nanny Nora the ‘Dame'. Diane Atkinson, who played the title role of ‘Puss In Boots' last year, will be exploiting her charms as she vamps The Jester in her role as Knotta Knunn. Last year's principal boy, Rebekah Snow, will be playing Sir Roger (The Black Knight), a new principal boy style character that has been written into the production. Peter Langford will be relishing his role as The Sheriff of Nottingham ably abetted by Angela Crank as Morag his sinister accomplice. Extra comedy will be provided by Heather Atkinson and Marjorie Stokes as the two robbers (The Sheriff's henchmen). Other important roles are King Richard (Daniel Ede), Pantomixia (Emily Woodcock), Nina the woodland nymph (Tara Cooke), Gobby the goblin (Jade Hughes) and The Ladies Alice & Sarah (Laura Plant & Rebecca Sturdy). The two title roles of The Babes will be shared by Joseph Wood & Karl Sturdy as Tommy, and Emily Cooke & Elizabeth Spooner as Jane, with each pair doing two nights. Those also having speaking parts are James Beaman (Friar Tuck), Hannah Stevens (Little John), Amy Northwood (Will Scarlet), Emma Beaman (Much the Miller-man ), Sam Cox (Alan-a-Dale) Katie Wilde & Kayleigh Sims (Primula & Properla), Cyril Colgate (Serf), Julie Chant (Villager) and, hopefully, Ian Wood will take the role of Merlin the Magician.

The pantomime is being dedicated to the memory of Brenda Brewster a long serving member of C.A.T.S. who sadly died last year.

The production will take place at ‘Cheadle Community Theatre' from Wednesday, February 15 th to Saturday, February 18 th . So get your tickets now.
