A Toe In The Water
By Derek Benfield
SYNOPSIS
The play explores what happens when Gerald Corby goes to spend a few days in a health farm, presided over by the highly moral Mr Potter, anticipating a period of peace and tranquillity. However, his hopes are dashed by the arrival not only of his secretary, who openly expresses her love for him, but also his daughter, Linda, who is intent on a naughty assignation with her boyfriend Rodney, of whom Gerald strongly disapproves. The situation is complicated further when his wife Marion turns up unexpectedly. The resulting misunderstandings and mix-ups caused by saucy deceit and amourous adventures prove more than a headache for the hapless Mr Potter, who strives to keep the moral fabric of the health farm intact!
This year's production will be directed by Marge Stanley, who was recently nominated for the Best Director award at the One Act Play Festival held at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre in March. Marge commented,
“We hope to offer the public another enjoyable show this year. The comfortable setting coupled with the hilarity of this play should mean that everyone has a great night out, whilst experiencing live, local theatre.”
“We have recently been able to donate £2000 to local charities as a result of the success of this year's productions. In order that we can maintain this level of support, we hope that local people will continue to come to watch our productions and that they enjoy watching them as much as we enjoy performing.”.
